Sandra’s Story

Being an attendee of Promise practice in person has helped me become more self-aware of my thoughts and habits. I now take notice of how they affect me. If they are not positive or healthy, I consciously work toward changes that will benefit me.

I have a deeper spiritual relationship with God and a clearer understanding of His love and devotion for me. I am able to understand scripture as an active word from God, and apply it to my daily life. I am more confident in being the woman God has called me to be.

I no longer strive for perfectionism. When I am feeling overwhelmed I use the breathing techniques taught by Michal. I allow myself to be a work in progress.

— Sandra

Why This Matters in DeKalb County

  • Women in DeKalb County are navigating real pressure tied to health, caregiving, chronic stress, and community-level inequities.

According to the 2025 Health of DeKalb report:

    • Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in DeKalb County.

    • Major cardiovascular diseases are also the leading cause of hospitalization for adults ages 30 and older.

    • Mental health and substance use needs continue to rise, while crisis-level support remains limited.

    • Maternal health disparities remain significant, especially for Black women.

    • Poverty, SNAP reliance, and neighborhood-level social vulnerability continue to impact health and well-being.

Promise Practice™ exists to help women address stress, self-neglect, and emotional overload earlier—through accessible coaching, practical tools, and consistent support.

  • Emotional Regulation & Stress Management

Participants learn how to recognize overwhelm early, understand their stress responses, and use practical tools to regulate emotions before reaching crisis.

    Topics may include:

    • emotional awareness

    • stress response recognition

    • coping skills

    • nervous system support practices

    • processing overwhelm in healthy ways

    Mindset Renewal & Decision-Making

Participants learn how beliefs, internal narratives, and mental habits affect confidence, choices, and consistency.

    Topics may include:

    • identifying limiting beliefs

    • reframing negative thought patterns

    • building self-trust

    • improving clarity in decision-making

    • shifting from survival mode to intentional action

    Faith-Integrated Life Alignment

Participants are coached to connect spiritual reflection with everyday life, helping them apply biblical wisdom to real emotional and personal challenges.

    Topics may include:

    • applying faith principles to daily life

    • values-based decision-making

    • identity and purpose reflection

    • spiritual encouragement in community

    Preventative Well-Being Practices

Participants are supported in building realistic habits that protect their health and reduce burnout over time.

    Topics may include:

    • boundary setting

    • energy and time awareness

    • rest and recovery

    • self-care planning

    • recognizing signs of burnout sooner

  • 1. Mental Health Prevention

Promise Practice™ provides early, preventative support that helps women manage stress, emotional overload, and isolation before problems escalate.

    2. Chronic Disease Prevention Support

Because stress, self-neglect, and unsustainable routines can contribute to poor health outcomes, Promise Practice™ helps women strengthen the behaviors that support long-term wellness.

    3. Maternal & Caregiver Support

The program creates space for mothers and caregivers to process stress, receive support, and reconnect with their own well-being while they care for others.

    4. Social Support & Community Stability

Promise Practice™ reduces isolation and increases access to practical wellness support through group coaching, reflection, and community-based encouragement.

  • Promise Practice™ is designed to improve confidence, emotional wellness, and preventative well-being behaviors.

    Participant-Reported Outcomes

    Based on participant survey data:

    • 95% reported increased trust in their personal direction or process

    • 68% learned how to apply faith principles to real-life situations

    • 53% experienced greater emotional clarity and confidence

    • 38% began paying attention to their well-being sooner instead of pushing through

    Participants also consistently report:

    • feeling less emotionally overwhelmed

    • managing stress more effectively

    • gaining healthier perspectives on personal challenges

    • feeling less alone and more supported

    • using practical tools outside of sessions during the week

  • Promise Practice™ supports women before breakdown, crisis, or deeper disconnection. By improving emotional wellness, self-awareness, and preventative health behaviors, the program contributes to stronger families, healthier communities, and more supported women across DeKalb County.

    This is not emergency intervention.

This is upstream, preventative, community-based support.

Promise Practice™ is a structured group coaching experience created to help women regulate stress, renew their mindset, and build sustainable habits that support their emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Many women carry the weight of caregiving, careers, relationships, and community responsibilities while silently pushing through exhaustion and overwhelm. Over time, that pressure can affect both emotional health and physical well-being.

Promise Practice™ provides a space where women can pause, reflect, and practice healthier ways of navigating life’s challenges with clarity, stability, and support.

Through guided coaching, reflection exercises, and community encouragement, participants gain practical tools they can apply immediately in their daily lives.
